Economic Times.com
THE SINGH NEVER WAS A KING
Dr S Deman, London/Pittsburgh, says: Soon after sworn in as PM Hon'ble Prime-Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh (a Sikh) claimed that India could achieve a 9% rate of growth. As an economist I could not figure out how this would be achieved when most developed economies around the world are facing not only a recession but also a deflation/depression. In fact, even China with 50% saving rate could not make such erroneous claim. I asked the Prime-Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh/Dr Montek Singh's office to provide me a blue print to justify their fairytale.

Pranab Mukherjee's Hollow Budget & Hike in Oil Prices: Has Pranab Mukherjee allocated 2-3% of GDP in Infrastrucutre - Transport, Railways, Roads, Road Transport, shipping, Inland Water Transport, Ports, Cilv Aviation, Construction, etc? Answer is NO, as he has no money and there is already a deficit of 6.5% in the budget. In fact, Pranabda's Budget appears to be an Obituary rather than the hope of glorious fulfilment of election manifesto. The sign of any package for stimulating the economy from the quagmire of recession is nowhere to be seen even at a distant horizon. In defence of this criticism, Dr Singh & Dr. Singh (Ahuwalia), in a joint enterprise relied upon the external help without realising that in the Worldwide Financial Crisis, the Masters are in more Trouble than "Rhodes slaves Scholarship", who have pledged to restore the British Empire again.

Far from addressing the economic crisis and contrary to the spirit of the Cong/UPA Election Manifesto, under the CIA pressure (though they themselves are practicing protectionism), Singh & Singh also announced that market forces should decide oil prices rather than Govt. This escapes the logic to fight the recession where one need control on the fuel prices to boost production. There are 4 components of Oil prices; (i) Oil refining and transportation cost, ii) Fore Court, (iii) VAT (Tax) (iv) Fuel Duty (Tax). Since last year crude oil prices have almost halved but neither the Govt nor markets have responded proportionately. In view of global recession, members of G20 plus countries including India's Prime Minister, Dr Singh met at the summit held in London early this year. Many important decisions were taken with the caveat of French Prime-Minister. One of the key issues emerged was that the Countries must learn lessons from Japan and the Countries of Gang of Four and give sufficient boost to the economies (at least from 2-3% of GDP) to overcome the present financial crisis and member states must fight against protectionism. Unfortunately, Dr Manmohan Singh and his Americanised Dy Chairman of Planning Commission, Dr Montek Singh and their Colonial Masters like, Golden Brown/Tony's Cronies came out with a boost of only 1% of the GDP on the table to deal with the plight of people and the financial crisis. In fact, Manmohan-Montek Singh Corporation (made in World Bank of America) went one step farther by privatising the Oil prices and increase in Oil/Diesel prices whereas Mr Borack Obama was openly advocating protectionism. However, in view of low low demand for oil by China and India due to recession and low crude oil prices I believe no law of economics can justify the increase in prices let alone privatisation of oil prices.

Further, although there is a difference between Dr Manmohan Singh's claim of 8-9% growth rate and Dr Montek Singh's reduces announcement of 7% growth rate, one wonders how this could be realised given anti people oil pricing mechanism and no significant boost in the infrastructure. In fact, even china with 50% saving rate and over half a trillion $ package for infrastructure could not dare to make a claim of more than 6% growth rate (half of previously) despite centralised planned economic system. Yet, some economists within china and overseas doubt very much if even 6% growth rate would be achievable. Dr Singh & Dr Singh (World Bank mafia) are dreamers and their dreams would never be realised in practice? The moment of truth has come to acknowledge that, Singh was never a King!

The World Bank of America has tendency to create Ivory Tower professors of Indian Political Economy for India with shallow scholarships to carry their bandwagons of austerity programmes, for example, like Raj Krishna, Dilip Swamy, Dr Manmohan Singh, Dr Montek Singh, Prof. Pangariya, etc. Joan Robinson, a Cambridge Economist and winner of Cambridge controversy debate of 1970s with Paul Samuelson, decribed these freetrade economissts very eloquently as follows:-

“The economist's case for free trade is deployed by means of a model from which all relevant considerations are eliminated by the assumption”.
Joan Robinson

Further, although I do not claimed to be an expert on India Political Economy I have read one of my former classmate and colleagues, Prof. Pangariya's (Prof. Raj Krishna's puppy) intreviews on Globalisation attacking Professor Stiglitz. However, his work on trade negotiations lack strategic interaction and he is nowhere near Stiglitz's scholarship (who quit Word Bank for its unrealistic austerity programmes for third world countries). In fact, his comments on Prof. Stiglitz’s attack on Globalisation, not only lacks theoretical underpinning, but also appears to be a public relations exercise to please their imperialist Masters. Most of the academics do not even realise what they have been doing subconsciously might be serving the cause the CIA/World Bank.

Racism Continues at the University of Greenwich

UCU Goes on Honeymoon
Dr Anthony Tambyrajah, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Principal Lecturer) Information Systems and Digital Media Department is of Sri Lankan ethnic origin and holding his position since 1990 with a trouble free record of service in the school of Computing and Mathematical Sciences (CMS). He gave evidence at the Ashford Tribunal which found, the University of Greenwich, Mr Russell Brockett, Director of Personnel, & Mr Ross Geddes guilty of Racial Discrimination and/or Victimisation. The Tribunal was Chaired by a Law Professor, Rideout of University College London. The AUT & NATFHE merged to form the University College Union and the Commission on Racial Equality (Labour Party frontal organisations to stonewall the victims of discrimination and generate a political strife to fetch votes) refused to provide support to Dr Deman erroneously believing that there were no prospects of success in his claims. Well! They were all proved wrong.

The Head of CMS School, Dr E. Bacon through her actions and through the actions of those whom she has direct responsibility has marginalised, victimised and discriminated me not only in the most recent case of turning down my request to continue working after the normal retirement age (NRA) but also has throughout her management tenure. It is my belief she has done this because of my union role within the school and my firm stance on discrimination and victimisation.

Dr Bacon’s decision not to extend my NRA has been supported at appeal by Pro VC Prof. T. Barnes The procedures used during appeal were based on criteria that were not available before or during the appeal leaving room for discrimination and an unbalanced presentation of my case.

This grievance complaint follows the pattern of victimisation and marginalisation by the university and its officers over the last 10 years

Chronology of events of victimisation

1999-2001 he was hand piked by Mr Russel Brocket, Director of Personnel to sit on the panel to investigate Dr. S Deman's complaint of racial harassment and discrimination against his part tie colleague, Mr Ross Geddes. As the investigation proceeded it became clear the chair of panel and personnel officer in-charge of the case wanted his role to be a token role. Dr Tambyrajah protested against Mr Brocekett's efforts to marginalise him on the panel. He wrote to Late Dr Fussy, then VC. The case went to an Employment Tribunal where he was issued a witness order to give evidence. His evidence was not favourable to the university, Mr Geddes ad Mr Brockett. Subsequently the university, Mr Geddes and Mr Brockett were found guilty of discrimination and/or victimisation. This was the turning point in his relationship with the university and its officers. After his involvement in the above case he found that the university through its senior management began a process of victimisation, which can be identified through a number of events.

2000-2009: During the time Dr Tambyrajah was a UCU Rep for the school and he provided union support to following members of staff who were being victimised in the CMS school

(a) Monique Rima, (b) Jan Malcolm, (c) Yasser Ades, (d) Ephrahim Nissan, (e) Karen Gunter,
(f) Rodney Sue, (g) Dimitrios Frangiskatos, etc.

The CMS School has a long history of victimisation and Dr Bacon through her actions in some of the above cases has shown that she is more than capable of victimising individual members of staff. Dr Tambyrajah supported the above members in cases, which involved complaints of discrimination against the university. This has resulted in Dr Bacon ostracising me. The most recent act of racial discrimination and/or victimisation is the refusal by Dr Bacon to extend my normal age of retirement. The lack of transparency and the adhoc process leave room for discrimination and victimisation.

He believes he has been racially discriminated or victimised because he carried out the protected acts. De wish to rely in my defence upon some white comparators who were given extension under somewhat similar circumstances".

Hopefully this would give the readers an idea how to write the grievance.

Romanian attacks -Two teens arrested

Media Hypocracy on Racism-Romanian Actress Fights against Racism
Racist abuse has not been a strange animal to those who lived in Northern Ireland but it had always been marginalised or overshadowed by sectarianism. In fact, people were scared of even reporting such crimes due to the fear of retaliation. In 1996, Ms Dhariwall of BBC ran first documentary on racism entitled, "Hidden Troubles in Northern Ireland", but it had told the people only half the story. Dr S Deman was the first Indian to report a race hate crime in 1996 which the NI police then known as RUC put it under the rug.

The Great white media was asleep when people of nonwhite ethnic minorities were or are attacked. Suddenly, they got an attack of morality as to the plight of Romanians. Jon Snow of Channel 4 told Alistair Finlay, Assistant Chief Constable in Northern Ireland that, "there has been more tolerance of racist attacks by police in Northern Ireland”. However, we should add however, the conduct of the Public Prosecution Services is no different from the police.

Further Mr Jon Snow told Mr Finlay that had this happened here (he meant in London or in England) police would be right there. Unfortunately, this does not support the reality on the ground. We have video evidence and over 50 police complaints of racial harassment of an Indian family which shows just the opposite, but neither of the news channels or other people in media ever cared to give coverage. Rather they played dumb.  In fact, it is a matter of record Ch 4 paid out over 120,000 to Equality Chief, Trevor Phillip's Consutancy Firm for cover up of racial abuse of Indian Movie star, Shilpa Shetty at Big Brothers.

It is well established that the white ethnic minorities, particulary Jewish are treated differently and media comes to their rescue (it does not mean they should not) but when non-white ethnic minorities are treated badly media plays duff. In fact, people like Prof Ian Gow was given an OBE despite the fact he was found guilty of racial victimisation by a Nottingham Tribunal.

Finlay with out cry in the media, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old boy have been held following vandalism which left windows smashed on homes in the Donegall Avenue area of south Belfast. However, when Steve Lawrence was murdered, "there was more tolerance of racist attack in England too", but not reported by media until Nelson Mandela voiced his concern during his visit to London when he was released from South African jail after 27 years (apartheid regime supported by civilised superpowers).

More than 100 Romanians left and were put up overnight in a church hall earlier this week and have since been given emergency accommodation. Earlier, police searched several homes in the area in connection with the racist attacks.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) spokeswoman said: "Police investigating the intimidation of Romanian nationals between June 11 and 15 in the south Belfast area have conducted two search operations in the Donegall Avenue area this afternoon." However, in November 2007 Dr Deman was attacked in the Fair Employment Tribunal Courtroom by a Roman Catholic Barrister of the University College Union but despite eye witness evidence to date no arrest has been made.

Romanian ambassador Ion Jinga met Northern Ireland First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness at Stormont on Thursday.

He said he was encouraged by the response from members of the public, with food and blankets donated and the perpetrators condemned.

Racists Strike Indian Students in Australia

Racism Changes Its Face But Never its Nature

In yet another incident targeting Indian students in Australia, a car belonging to a youth from the community has been torched here. As usual, the police ruled out any racial motive behind it. Vikrant Rajesh Ratan, 22 who had used all his savings to buy the car, said the vehicle was burnt last night.
He said that two other cars, also belonging to Indians, that were parked next to his vehicle, were also damaged during the incident. "We were sleeping when it all happened.
We heard the fire alarm of the car. When we went out to see what happened we saw the cars on fire," Ratan told PTI. He said that it could have been done by a group of drug addicts who used to sit near the premises.
"I believe they (addicts) probably first tried to open the car. Then they may have used a petrol can to set it ablaze.
" Ratan, originally from Ludhiana (Punjab) who came here a month ago to pursue a certificate course in Automotive Engineering, said that there was no chance of a short circuit that could have burnt the car in this cold weather. He said he had bought the vehicle a few days ago for 2500 dollars and now he was left with no money.

Indian Elections - Left Debacle

Karat in Pensive Modd After the Defeat

In this election, CPIM leadership heavily relied upon the negative campaign. The issue of nuclear deal was not even voiced or did not go through very well. Although people wanted a change but the Third front has been unable to assure the public against the fear from change. In fact, the Left Front has alienated itself from the people more than ever before in the history of Communist movement. The Left has been left out in a big dilemma and the CPI(M) Ivory tower bureaucratic leadership wasted 4 and a 1/2 years flirting with Sonia Gandhi Congress and their withdrawal of support at the last moment and particularly expulsion of Mr Somnath Chatterjee appeared opportunistic. Frankly speaking, bureaucracy in former USSR and Eastern Europe came after socialism became a temporary reality but in the Indian Communist movement it has taken over even before a revolution is seen anywhere. Somnath Chatterjee appears to be correct, if you so much rely upon bourgeois democracy, the leadership should take the responsibility and should resign forthwith starting from Buddhdeb Bhattacharya (rather than avoid politburo meeting)and then the upper caste JNU boys, like Sita Ram Yechuri and Prakash Karat as their field experience is limited to 500 JNU students' politics of elite class. This is what happens when entire time of the party is devoted to bourgeois democracy. Of course Nandigarm issue and Mr Bhattacharya's call for a ban Hartal & Bandh were also important factors in CPI(M) debacle. See author’s comments on Prabhat’s Patnyak’s letter on Nandigram.
Summary Reasons:
(1) Com. Joyti Basu’s erroneous support to Bourgeois Democratic Revolution in West Bengal under the Private Ownership of Means of Production and opposition to the same idea in non CPI(M) states sharpened the contradictions,(2) Unnecessary attack on Baba Ramdeo on nonissues;(3) Anti people stand of Mr Buddhdeb Bhattchrya calling for a Ban on Hartal & Bandhs in WB,(4) poviding legitimacy to Congress led UPA and then opportunistic withdrawal from UPA & expulsion of Chattrejee, (5) Nuclear deal issues marginalised, (6) Nandigram masscre, (7) unprincipled alliance in third front, (8) Inexperience  Bureaucratic leadership, etc., played major part in CPI(M) debacle.
